Hi,

We apologize about the ads. Yahoo and AT&T work together to provide a free E-mail service that provides all the latest features, while trying to keep it a free service to our customers.

For anyone encountering issues with their computers losing connection are having issues with the browser, we would be glad to help. If you could let us know the OS and browsers you have tried. Try clearing your cache and cookies. Sometimes a virus scanner can cause issues. Disable it for testing purposes, and if that is the case, make an exception for this.

Put this in as a filter for your ad blocker. It will stop the calls for video in an empty folder.

While it doesn't seem like Yahoo provides a way to disable these in the current UI, I have heard that if you go into "Basic" mode(the older version), it will no longer show the video ads.

That can be changed by going to Yahoo Mail, hovering over the gear icon, clicking "Settings", then under "Viewing Mail" you should see "Mail Version" which has a check bubble for "Basic" mode.

It's not a direct way to removing it, but it's a work around method that appears to not include them if you don't care about using the older form of AT&T Yahoo Mail.

I honestly did not know that switching to the old view was even and option.

I think with the basic version, there is some things you can't do...unless they changed it... Been a while since I was in Basic..... I had to go to Basic before because of something Yahoo did..

I have two gmail accounts forwarded to come automatically into my att.yahoo email..

will these still work in Basic..  I need these to work

 thanks.

I just tested sending a message to a gmail account I use for a blog I have.. it does not work in Basic.. it is NOT coming into my folder...  it works in the New email but NOT the old basic

Yahoo needs to fix this mess !!!!    this is crazy...   If I hit the X to close out all the videos,

it puts a message on the screen,  "How About checking out some great videos from att.net"

WHY can't Yahoo simply put that message in the emply box and NOT the videos.. it is

helping to slow down my email...

This is absolutely horrible..  they should give people an option to kill them permanently...

Sure enough, switching to basic does get rid of those horrible videos.  I agree that it should be an option, not mandatory.  Come on AT & T, don't you get enough money?  It is the most annoying thing that has come along!!!

I recently started getting videos that pop up on my mail page. I did not ask for this, I do not want them, they are of no interest to me, and even if I wanted them, they take forever to load. I prefer to keep my mail page for mail only. The ads are bad enough, now I have these unwanted videos. Is there any way to turn them off??

Does anyone from ATT actually READ these things, or do they go to a robot? Is there an actual, physical, home office so that I could confront someone face-to-face? You seem to have the attitude that you can do absolutely anything, and the customer has no choice but to accept it. I'm about this close >< to cancelling ALL my ATT services and switching to a competitor.

By the way, I know this is not the right place for it, but Directv absolutely SUCKS!! Don't fall for their sales pitch, like I unfortunately did.

I use Windows 10 with IE11 and the Yahoo Mail has been a nightmare. This is very recent... less than a month. I never used to encounter this issue before. PLEASE fix. I can't compose an email without it freezing after typing just a few words.

Thank you.

This is my two cents worth on the topic, for whatever it is worth.....

I can speak from personal experiance that the browser plugin "Adblock Plus" so far seems to block those advertisments and vidio's from popping up when one empties their mail box.

The simple reality is, like it or not, Yahoo is NOT going to stop showing them. Not until, and unless, customers pay Yahoo more money to NOT show it, than the advertisers do to have their content viewed.

I am also at a complete loss why one would choose to forward mail from a superior mail service like G-mail, to an inferior one like Yahoo. But, personal choice and free will and all that.

Good life.

cleaning out the cache and the cookies and the use of an antivirus does NOT stop these darn videos from coming up in the boxes when the emails are deleted...  they are frustrating ... I am not interested in watching them.. they should NOT be forced on people...

If Yahoo wants them in THEIR emails, fine, but KEEP them out of the AT&T emails..

@ tigereyze209...I use AdBlock and it stops a lot of ads from coming up in different areas I go to.. it does NOT stop the videos from coming up in the mailboxes of the email when the box is empty..  once they pop up, if I hit the X and close it out, they will not come back til you close the browser and open it again..

and as far as using my AT&T email.. I've been using it many years before Yahoo took over .. I was using it when it was Southwestern Bell...  I didn't get a Gmail account til many years later.. and I got it because I have a blog of children's stories ... and I have my Gmail forwarded to my AT&T mail so if someone sends me an email from My blog, I get it in one place...  I like the format of my AT&T mail better than the Gmail.   I use them both

Hmmm.. you and I must be using differant filters in ad block then..

I have tried to replicate what you described with it enabled, and I can only get it to do it when my adblock is disabled.

As of about October or so last year, Yahoo took over day to day ATT's e-mail service completely, so for all intents, it IS Yahoo e-mail.

All ATT internet services by Yahoo, except for e-mail were passed on to another provider called Synacor.. am at a loss why they did not include that as well.

With the bid put in, i honestly thought ATT was going to buy their own e-mail service back from Yahoo, but Verison wond the bid, and so, it is what it is.

Now, it is in limbo, unfortumatly..  they have to keep providing service until the yahoo contract runs out.. who can say if yahoo/verizon will renew the contract for ATT's e-mail when that contract expires. On the other hand, they can keep it exactly as it is.

It is truly a shame that ATT does not really have any control over the day to day running of their e-mail service.

I have provided about all the input ai have to give, sorry to say.

Good luck.

not sure..  will have to check the filters for my Adblock..  It blocks a lot of stuff but don't block the videos in my mailboxes...

for the most part, I do fine with the email..  Yahoo seems to be really good at messing things up.. I used to have two gmail accounts forwarded to my AT&T mail so I could monitor them .. one was mine and one my son's....for our blogs.. using Popmail..  now the popmail won't work so I just have them forwarded to go into a particular folder ...  recently I am now getting error messages telling me someone is trying to sign into my gmail accounts..  I've put int he passwords over and over and it still errors out... so I ignore... When yahoo makes changes, they mess things  up and then no one does a thing to fix the problems..

Couple years ago.. suddenly my AT&T would not accept any emails from anyone with a .net email address...  so any emails from my friends that had a .net address, I wasn't getting.  I could send to them but couldn't receive from them...  went back and forth with AT&T trying to find out why...  took a while but finally got it working again...

I worked for a company who used to make changes to the way things worked, but they always thoroughly tested it before releasing it.. It seems like Yahoo isn't too good at testing things as well as they should... they just release it and the consumers have to deal with them..

have good day
