error using gmail on wireless to access email no response from server

My email was locked by att. I got it unlocked buy now am unable to access the email on my wireless android phone using gmail. I deleted the account and tried to set it up again in gmail but now it won't let me use imap option. I can only use pop3 for setup. Even with pop3, however, I still can't get the emails.  I have another email address that was not locked by att and it still works fine in gmail. I get an error saying "Unable to connect to email server to verify your account inforrmation. No response from server."  I have talked to att repeatedly but no help.

We hate to hear that you're getting an error using gmail on your wireless device to access email and no response from server.

  • Have you tried accessing on a different web browser?
  • Have you tried to clear cache and cookies as well? 
  • What have you been told when speaking with someone at AT&T?
