Does AT&T Really Care About Your Online Security?

Does AT&T really care about your online security?  I don't think so.
Look at the myAT&T Login Dialog image below.  Notice that the "Save ID" checkbox is CHECKED by default.

 ATT-Login-Dialog-sm.png

This means that *IF* you don't want your ID saved, you have to un-check the "Save ID" checkbox.
This makes it an "Opt-Out" scenario instead of an "Opt-In" scenario.
Instead of AT&T taking the lead in their/our online security, they are placing this security burden upon us, their customers.

If you are not aware, AT&T uses Yahoo for their email services.  How many times recently have you heard of security breaches at Yahoo?  I'd be willing to bet that some of these breaches are a result of someone not un-checking the "Save ID" checkbox.

I've been on this bandwagon for 5-6 months now.  I have brought this issue to the attention of AT&T's customer service reps many times.  I even pointed this out to the technician that recently upgraded my in-home service and to his supervisor as well.
As of today, this issue still persists.

Come on AT&T show us, your customers, that you really are taking an active role in protecting our online security.
Leave the "Save ID" checkbox un-checked. This is for everybody's benefit.

Is this all you have to worry about?

Okay..  you are only posting half the information....   It will save your user id...   it does NOT save your password.

You still have to type in the password, even though it displays you id.

Yep, you are right. It does save *only* your ID, not your password.
I had never tested it before today.
But I still stand by my original statements.

Giving any hacker your ID is just the first step into getting your account(s) compromised.

This checkbox should be un-checked by default.  Opt-in instead of opt-out.

Thanks for the insight.

Well another month has come and gone and AT&T has not yet changed their 'myAT&T Login Dialog'.
As stated before, by default, this dialog will save only your "User ID" and NOT your password.

NOTE: This is more of an issue on public computers (libraries, coffee shops, airports, etc.) than it is for your home computer.

The problem still is that the checkbox is, by default, already *checked* (I suppose for your convenience).
This means that if you do not want your User ID saved, *you* have to un-check the checkbox yourself.
For those users that don't understand what this checkbox really means or are too busy to notice it, those users have unknowingly given a hacker the first part needed in compromising the users' account(s).

To AT&T: This *IS* a security hole into your systems.
If you are really concerned about your customers' online security, you will fix this problem.
