Cannot add email account to Galaxy tablet or LG Phone

Seems simple. I want to add my sbcglobal email account to my tablet.

It's already on my iPad and my Win10 laptop...

I enter my email address and password using the "mail" icon (I don't see various common email services, guess vers 4.4.4 Kit Kat doesn't do things that way...)

BUT it always fails.

Keep getting

"Setup could not finish"

"Cannot safely connect to server"

Tried manual settings, tried using a "secure Mail Key" same thing.

Always fails with those same errors..

what to do?

seems like a simple thing to do but no luck all day...

With my plain Yahoo account I had to generate an "App Password" but can't seem to be able to do that anywhere regarding this sbcglobal account.

Hello, @rkwasi,

Thank you for reaching out. It sounds like you may need to use OAuth to access your mail. If you're on KitKat, see if the two devices can be updated as they may need to be on Lollipop.

If this doesn't help, could you let us know the types of devices where you're having the issue?

Tried using OAuth and secure keys, tried 2x with different keys, made a 2nd one to be sure I didn't mess anything up on the 1st key.

The phone is an LG Aristo 2 Plus, a little old but stil fine to use...

I won't have it back in front of me until the morning, left it somewhere and can't get it back until Wednesday a.m.

:(

I'll check to see if I can upgrad to Lolllipop then....

Anything else to look into?

OK, Running Android 8.1.0, no firther updates available.

STILL cannot get my sbcglobal account setup again on this LG Aristo 2 Plus

Tried secure keys, tried manual settings,

it was ALL OK until I changed the password Saturday.

Since then cannot get it setup again no matter what.

what to do??

Well, it seems we can enable email though the Yahoo email app, although it pretty sorta is lousy to use what with all the ads and its funtionality when compared to the native way of how email was received etc just last week via the phones' mail setups.

ATT support seems to have passed it off as a Phone issue, although that still doesn't explain why all of a sudden nothing lets me connect to the email servers to continue "adding" an account when I use the native mail setups within my LG Aristo 2 Plus
