Cannot sign up for AutoPay

After calling an AT&T agent, I just got set up with AT&T for the first time, and my service will start in about 2 weeks from today. However, I cannot sign up for AutoPay. I went to my account via and went to settings, and it says this:
How do I set up AutoPay? How long does it take for AutoPay to get set up after calling an AT&T agent to get service started?

Hi there, danielfiber. We understand that you are unable to sign up for autopay. We can look at that with you. 


You are doing the correct steps, however you stated that you have spoken with an AT&T agent. Normally, the agent would've walked you through with setting up the autopay at the time of your call. If that was done, then the autopay takes a full bill cycle for it to become active. 


The reason why is that your account is not fully active yet. Your installation is not completed and is still in the pending stage.  Also, your payment profile is not fully active yet. 


Our recommendation is that you attempt the steps again on the day of your installation or the day after, to set up the autopay, if it was not done at the time of your call. 


If you are still having the same concern after your installation completes, then reach back out, and we can set up your autopay manually.
