wireless internet self installation

I received an email that I have an appointment for Wednesday (1/6/21) for self installation of my wireless internet.  It doesn't state explicitly if someone is going to be bringing it to me, or if I'm to receive a package.  If someone is bringing it to me, do I need to be home for the entire duration of that day, as my appointment time is "between 8am and 8pm"?

If your appointment is for a Customer Self Install (CSI), that means that a tech will performing service outside your home to ensure that you have a data connection to your residence. You do not need to be present for this work. You should be sent the necessary gateway through FedEx/UPS for self connecting. Be sure to follow *all* directions included with the gateway.

On a Customer Self Install (CSI) equipment is shipped...

A tech will be dispatched sometime during the course of the day to perform outside work (connection / jumper / testing). Most time will have no contact with the tech, some may call or text to let you know they are done.

Once outside work is completed, any issue activating service requiring a tech dispatch results in a FAILED CSI charge of $99... this is the same $99 charge for a Full Tech Install. In essence if a tech enters the residential dwelling there is a bill.

A very slim chance that you are not a CSI but a Full Tech Install, no 2 hour window to be assigned available such as 9-11, 11-1 or 1-3 and your order is placed on standby in case someone cancel their install... in these cases the tech will call with estimate arrival time, generally 30 to 45 minutes from calling. The tech performs all work including providing the gateway for service on Full Tech Install. I say slim chance as most CSI in our market are 6 hour windows such as 8-2 or 12-6 not 8-8 but we do not run late shift for techs... all ours techs start at 8 am and done by 6:30. In areas with late techs they would normally start at either 10, 11 or noon working till 8:30.
