Technician Never Showed Up

Let me begin by saying, at this point, if I had ANY other choice for my internet service, even at twice the cost, I would use it. Unfortunately for me, it appears I am at the mercy of AT&T. I signed up online to have internet installed. I was told to be at my home between 12-4 on Friday afternoon, April 6. My husband took half a day off work, and waited 3 and a half hours, patiently and hopefully, for the technician to arrive. At 3:30, I encouraged him to call and check on the technician. After spending approximately 30 minutes on the phone with someone, he was assured we would be contacted by phone about the arrival of the recognition. He was also told, the technician would be anywhere from a few minutes to an hour late. We received no phone call and no one showed up. When 5 o’clock rolled around, I called and spent another hour on the phone, only to be given the promise the technician will show up, and we would receive a phone call. It’s now 6:40...still no call...still no technician. So, we have now waited 6 hours and 40 minutes and spent an hour and a half on the phone. I feel like I’m doing all the work, but I have to pay AT&T. It makes no sense. I asked, at what point do we give up and decide no one is coming. We were told to just wait. Please let me know how this is appropriate. I can honestly say, I have NEVER been so frustrated with the lack of customer service in all my 52 years of living. Clearly, my time is not valued at all.  Update-it’s now 10:30 pm, and we still haven’t heard a word. According to the customer service rep, we should just continue waiting, and he couldn’t give me a time we should give up waiting.

Oh great so I guess this is happening to me too. Today’s date is October 6, 2020. The technician was supposed to come yesterday October 5th they never came so I called the guy I ordered service from and he rescheduled for me and it’s almost the end of the time frame 11-1pm. It is now 12:59 and nothing no call or text. At least yesterday I got a text saying tech was running late. Today I got nothing. I can live without WiFi, but both my kids can’t do online classes. This is so frustrating wow. I wonder if there’s any way I can cancel my contract...spectrum is coming to fix my WiFi on the 10t of October so I might just wait before canceling with them. Spectrum made me wait 14 days to come out, but at this point spectrum might be faster

We'd be happy to help you out, @Dreamer212!

Are you still waiting for the technician, or have they made it to your home yet?

If not, let us know, and we'll do our best to get someone out to install your service ASAP.

We'll be awaiting your response!

Same here, only my phone was supposed to be installed Nov 11 and they have missed EVERY appointment since.

Today is NOV 20,2021......I have spent hours each day being passed around from dept to dept and no one can give me an answer. I told them I am handicap and in a wheelchair without the use of my legs and medically I urgently need a phone. They could care less. I am an ATT retiree and both of my parents worked at at Illinois Bell. I bet they're spinning in their graves now. Just absolutely all over lack of respect for their customers. I have had Ill Bell/ATT since I was born and never switched. 67 years, how sad. Today I finally woke up and realized if they can't come out after 9 missed appointments, they're never coming. I hope this bill Biden just signed to bring more internet to rural america doesn't give a penny to AT&T. I WILL be filing an FCC and BBB complaint along with thousands of others. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS SORRY COMPANY.......

I just spoke to AT&T because my internet service is out AGAIN. While troubleshooting the problem we discovered the landline has no dial tone. I was then transferred to the landline department who told me they would have to send a technician out. It will be 3 DAYS before someone can come. This is ridiculous. Even the local cable companies have technicians on during the weekend. This company cares nothing about their customers being without service.

After dealing with them and waiting 9 days for someone to come out and hook up my new home phone, I finally called them and told them to shove their nonexistant crappy service. How can they even get away with that? Then I called the FCC and made sure they Knew how unhappy I am with their antics. Then I cancelled their internet. These guys should be fined for every no show. Who has time to take off from work and sit and wait for them to maybe show up. Believe me, you'll be much happier if you  dump them forever. They have NO respect for their customers at all.

Run like heck......far far away from this horrid company. I even had class A concession because I was a retired employee so I got monthly service for under $10. I STILL dropped 'em like a hot potato. They could care less for their customers. Look everywhere for a different company. Congress just passed a law to bring internet to underserved areas. I would call AT&T a "NO" Service company. Call your state rep and complain. Report ATT to the FCC and BBB. Then start looking. They are not worth the frustration and I'm super glad I reported them to the FCC. They actually get right back to you. Goid Luck !!!!

@MB2216

Short staffing and additional health restrictions has stretched them too thin on available techs. Sure AT&T has their own share of issues, but like many others they have been heavily impacted by Covid. Unfortunately needing to reschedule appointments is all too common these days.

To be clear I am not saying that AT&T doesn't have things they need to change and improve. However, it appears that many people forget that companies are not immune to a pandemic that has had global repercussions. It will be a slow process for them and many others to get back to normal or expected operations. Has nothing to do with respect or caring for customers but the reality of the current world situation.
