Moving a modem inside a home...
If anyone here had to move a modem (U-verse) to another room in their home, I am trying to get an idea about what it would cost. AT&T told me that the cost of just getting the service man here would be $149.00. They told me that he would have to tell me what the cost of moving the modem would be...I'm not looking for an exact number just a range. I understand that an installation on an inside wall would be more expensive than on an outside wall.

You really don't require AT&T's involvement. There should be someone in your area offering Geek services like installing cable.
The current cable in your home connects to a central point somewhere in or outside of your home prior to going out to the street. Have the Geek run a new CAT5 or CAT6 cable to where you want to have it installed. Once completed, just unplug the AT&T router/gateway and move to new location.
