DSL service all around me

Hello all.  I currently live in a rural area with AT&T DSL (and in some small patches, fiber optic) available on either side of me but my property seems to be in a small dead zone for some reason.  There is a house less than 1000 feet from mine, across the street, with DSL service.  My AT&T service box is right across the street from their house.  Is it possible that I can already get a decent DSL signal in my landlines (none installed in my home yet but the in-laws on the same property have an AT&T landline) and how could I go about getting my area tested for service?

Hello @daniel01158,

We thank you for your interest in AT&T services

There are several reasons why AT&T internet service may not be available to you.

  • Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  • The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.
  • Another competitor services there area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you.

You can always check out this site to see if service is available in your area.

Once services become available you can contact us here and we will get you set up.

We hope this helps @daniel01158, please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
