AT&T internet without AT&T "Gateway"

I've used AT&T internet in the past at my house.  I've been using Comcast for the last couple of years and I'm thinking about switching back to AT&T.

Is there a way to get AT&T internet without using the AT&T "Gateway"? I have my own Motorola cable modem and Linksys Router.
