30 DAYS to install AT&T U verse Internet

I have a question, is this the normal time required for installing an internet service from AT&T?

Also, is it also normal for a company this big to waste customers time by setting appointments but then the technician doesn't show up, no phone calls, no notification? what about phone calls from AT&T to confirm my appointment and then on the installation day, no one bothered to tell me that they can't come because they OVERBOOKED? how about all the "facilities issues" and can't install?  Isn't AT&T supposed to be a high tech company?  another question, if I need service installation, does my NEIGHBORS also have to be at home so the technician can access their yard when they can also access the pole from my yard?  Please kindly explain.  Also, did AT&T missed their sales/sign up goals? because I'm not the only one that's ready to cancel service.

Sorry to read of your missed appointment. There a few things that can occur for us to miss it. As you mentioned, overbooking, previous repair or install orders taking longer to complete. There are some instances where the hardware is damaged and we have to repair it before our members can be installed.

So, AT&T rep called to confirm the appointment the day before and still overbooked? Why bother confirming the appointment then?!?  I chose the earliest time slots and the technician didn't show up due to earlier install took longer than expected (7-9AM time slot is also available?). Also, does the hardware gets damaged so easily and so often that I was told two to three times that "facility issues" were the problem? If that's the case, my chance to have the internet installed seems to be almost impossible.  So, let's see on January 30th if a technican will show up and install the internet (after 7th time of rescheduling).
