I have an Android phone J320A, I think, have been having trouble with a screen overlay problem. It's affecting most everything on my phone. Example, can not access photo editor, it says I must first turn off screen overlay, go to settings, then apps and turn off screen overlay....I've done that a lot, turned everything off, but the same message continues! I think it's some kind of virus, but my virus scans all say safe. Someone from the help community responded, they had a similar problem and it resulted from Facebook messenger, or it overlay icon (don't really know) remaining on the screen. So awhile back this magnifying glass symbol (search symbol) appeared on all screens constantly. When pressed another screen pops up saying "search buzz" giving you the choice of several items, people, etc. Somehow I associated it with Yahoo...in last day or so the magnifying glass overlay has disappeared but the problem remains. I also have a screen that pops up at lower right hand corner, I also think is affiliated with this search buzz...no overlay icon, just accidently swipe that corner and it appears, giving access to other apps. So I am pretty much phone and computer dummy...but I do ask for help, just haven't had the chance to take the phone in to the store. Any help would be appreciated!

this looks like a malware or adware infected your phone. try deleting apps that you are unfamiliar with and if that did not work try performing a hard reset of your phone. make sure you backup all of your files first.

Hey there @TylerTx !
It sounds like the phone’s screen overlay settings are acting up. This happened to my devices and about drove me mental getting them to behave. I would be more than happy to help!
Since the introduction of 6.0 Marshmallow, there have been many apps which allow for the overlay. This gives apps the ability to “draw over” the top of others. In a sense, the apps would stack on your screen. One popular use of this would be Facebook “chat heads”.
As handy as this can be, there have been issues with apps blocking others. Luckily, there are a few ways we can fix this. The first steps we want to check are Settings > Applications > Application Manager > tap More > Apps that can appear on top > Enabled. You will be able to adjust for either all of your apps, or just specific ones.
I do also want to mention, there should be an additional menu icon in the upper right of this setting screen. If you tap on it, you will be able to adjust the settings for the system apps as well.
After changing these, if you are still getting the Yahoo Buzz overlay we may need to look at a reset of the phone. This would ensure all of the settings go back to factory, and you would be able to see if the there is another apps not working properly.
Before resetting the phone, I highly recommend making a backup of any information. Our Device Support page has fantastic walk-throughs to guide you through both steps. Please make sure the make/model matches your device, and then click Tutorials > Backup & restore > and you can choose the best method for you.
When you are ready, and everything has been saved; please choose Tutorials > Troubleshooting > Reset device. The phone will reboot during this, and when it comes back up you will be able to test out the overlay and restore all of your information.
I hope this information helps. Have an awesome day!
