WIFI router does not see the internet when connected to a functioning DSL modem

My DSL internet connection was out-of-order for a few days. The trouble ticket was 285-708781. When it was repaired, I could only use Ethernet connections to access the internet. My WiFi router could no longer see the internet like it had the the past. The router was a Netgear WiFi Router. I purchased a LINKSYS router a few days ago thinking that the Netgear router had failed. The LINKSYS  router has the same problem accessing the internet. Both router installation guides say I need to consult with the internet provider to correct the problem. Can anyone help? I can open the web pages to the local routers and change the configurations if necessary.

Try connecting directly to the modem, bypassing the router. If you still can't get out then the issue is with the modem. If you can get out, and neither router still works then there could be a setting in the modem that needs to be changed. Does either router even "see" the modem?

Trouble ticket numbers mean nothing here because this is a customer helping customer forum only. It is not official AT&T Support and Support rarely, if ever, reads or responds to the posts here.

Hello @jlesac

We recognize that you have encountered some trouble with Wi-Fi for your AT&T DSL service using your 3rd party router. We will do our best to assist you with the issue.

Upon connecting your 3rd party router (LINKSYS) to the DSL modem, what specific errors do you get when you're trying to access Wi-Fi? Does your devices find the network name (SSID)? Is the router visible to the devices?

We recommend looking into this article on our Forum that may provide some assistance with this issue. Check out this link.
