Why isn’t port forwarding available for hotspot devices?
Why isnt port fowarding avaiable for hotspot deivces? I mean I don't see the point of having that disabled. I mean I wouldn't mind paying a few extra bucks a month to have port fowarding enabled. And if your thinking: "Its to help protect our users from malware" well if users knew what they are doing and know what port fowarding is I dont see that as a threat. I've contacted through ATT through twitter. I've done a chat session that they directed me 5-6 times. Then they told me to call a number but it wont let me get past the first number. Currently a VPN is the only way to get around this. But is there a Valid reason why port fowarding isnt a option. And if verizon does it why cant AT&T?

Hey @MCB123,
We're happy to answer your question!
We have port forwarding disabled on most hotspot devices for network security purposes. However, port forwarding is available on the Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot Router with universal plug and play. You should check it out!
If you have any other questions about this, let us know.
Thanks for reaching out!

@ATTHelp I purchased a MR1100 device based on this information. I cannot setup port forwarding because ATT is blocking it with their firewall. When I called technical support they said that they will not allow port forwarding without purchasing a dedicated business IP.
Who is correct and how do I get this fixed now that I have purchased a $400 router specifically for this?

I bought the Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot Router and a business plan with a public static IP and port forwarding still will not work. I returned the Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot Router and am using a Netgear LB1120 in bridge mode and have my port forwarding setup on my router like I have done on hundreds of cable and DSL sites, but with this at&t 4g connection port forwarding will just not work. They must be blocking inbound port requests on their network. I have been trying to get them to allow port forwarding for my static IP for over a month now and am getting nowhere. They transfer my call and hang up on me, my sales rep will not return my emails about this and the people at the at&t store say they don't know anything about port forwarding. I guess port forwarding is not possible on the at&t 4g network. I just don't understand why they just don't tell us that so we don't waste time and money trying to make it work.
