What happens to customers more than 1.5 miles from a hub when it's converted from DSL to fiber?

What will happen to a customers internet access when the hub they are connected to is converted from DSL to fiber and they live more than 1.5 miles from that hub?  Are they just out of luck and have to find another provider?  Asking for a friend....

Good morning @smalone091,

We apologize if DSL is being taken down, but AT&T is constantly striving to bring better service to new areas.

Please let us know if you need help with anything else.

Appreciate the apology but what is going to happen to internet service for DSL customers who will now be living outside the 1.5 distance for fiber?  DSL has a range of 3 miles so what happens to the customers between 1.5 and 3 miles from the DSL hub when DSL goes away?

Hi @smalone091

At that point, the Internet service will not be available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your friend!

Let us know if you have any other questions!
