Uverse MAXX speed is up to 0.45 MPS???

Screen Shot 2015-02-11 at 10.36.24 PM.png

Can you guys see this? 0.45mps... I can't believe this. I am having this problem every night. I am paying $50 dollars every month and I am supposed to have up to 18mps as I bought Uverse Max. Yet, 0.45 mps is what I am getting every night. I turned off and on the modem and tried everything possible, but the speed still sucks.

Does anyone have any suggestion? Of course other than switching over to Xfinity.. which I am already thinking about..

On 12/1.5M internet constantly get 15.35/2.00M, this is wired by ethernet from my laptop, I don't do wireless. 😉

Hi @fany680

Sorry to hear that your Internet service is showing slow speeds. Did you run there tests over a wired or wireless connection? If the wired speeds show normal results then the gateway should be is receiving the bandwidth and there may be some interference affecting the Wi-Fi signals. I would suggest taking a quick look at this graphic and this article to help make sure the gateway is in a good environment and not being impacted by interference. I hope this helps! Let us know if they still show the same results.

Well... I changed the location of my modem as ATT person suggested. Guess what I am getting now!! 0.3 MPs.. Even worse than before. I dont think it is the wireless interference. I think uverse just is slow.

See SomeJoe's great wireless interference thread:

Also see the SJ post:

Please Read for a Potential Solution

For many people, the DHCP problems with the 2Wire/Pace/Motorola routers can be solved by configuring the RG as follows:

1. Go to http://192.168.1.254/ and find the RG's wireless configuration page.

2. Change the setting "Wi-Fi Protected Setup" to Disabled.

3. Change the setting "Authentication Type" to WPA2-PSK (AES).

4. Click the "Save" button at the bottom.

5. This procedure may ask for your RG's password. The default password for your RG is printed on a sticker on the side of the RG (3600HGV, 3800HGV-B, 3801HGV and NVG589/510) or on a white sticker on the backup battery (i3812V).

Disabling WPS should help with the DHCP timeout issue and general wireless connection problems.

Setting authentication specifically to WPA2-PSK/AES improves connection reliability on Macs and other Apple products.

Good luck 😉

Chris

Whoever did the install to your house probably didn't change the cables from a previous connection, or they installed it incorrectly. Unless ATT is just limiting the connection directly to you, which really wouldn't surprise me, it's most likely that the cables you have aren't capable of even handling whatever service speed you're actually paying for.

This happens surprisingly often.

Thank you Ploatman!!!

What do I have to do then? Should I call AT&T and reinstall my internet cable? Aren't they going to charge me hundreds of dollars for Installation again?
