Use Parental Controls with Smart Home Manager

Here are two recent links describing this feature:

AT&T YouTube Video

I have an Arris BGW210-700 with verison 1.10.9 firmware and under Tools of SHM the options described in the two links do not exist. The options are missing in the Online version and in the SHM app on my phone. Has anyone seen these options in SMH?

I would like to report that Parental Controls is now working in SHM. I have a Profiles option at the top under Tools on both the web interface and on my smart phone. The BGW210-700 remains at 1.10.9 firmware version. Note that under Firewall the Parental Control option is now enabled. These changes appeared overnight without my intervention. It must have been AT&T.

Hello @tracit99,

We understand you have a concern with trying to use parental control with smart home manager. Don't worry we can point you in the right direction.

Do you have a router behind your AT&T router?

Also check out this page that may be a better option for parental controls.

Yes I have a router behind the BGW210-700 for my primary network and I am aware of the parental controls in the McAfee Suite. However, there are some devices that I do not allow on my primary network and those devices are the devices that I would like to have some rudimentary Parental Control over.

I just don't understand why AT&T indicates that this feature is available in SHM when it is not for me and many other users. Furthermore, when I look at the BGW210-700 Firewall settings, Parental Control is disabled and there is not any option to enable it. I have done several factory resets on the gateway and so far resetting has not helped. Is there anything else I could try to get Parental Control to work in SHM as described in the links provided above?

Hello @tracit99,

When you allow those devices on the network, are you able to use the parental controls and set-up the devices with no issues?
If those devices include cell phones, we have the AT&T Secure Family App which may be useful to you, and you can learn more by going to your website.
Please let us know if the devices are on the network and if you can set up parental controls on the network as well.

I may be wrong, but I think it is something on the AT&T side. It is something they have to activate or turn on. That is the way it was for me. One day I did not have it and the next I did.
