Super high ping

Hi, I switched to att fiber a few months ago from Comcast. I thought it would be better but my ping is steady at 100+ when on Comcast it was 30-40. Is there a fix for this or why is this? I use an Ethernet cable so I’m not over wifi

Let's get your ping back to an acceptable level, @ColtonLukens!

Firstly, we recommend that you attempt to reset your gateway when you notice that your ping is high. This can refresh your connection and correct any errors that may be causing this.

You can do so by taking these steps:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or modem. If you have:
    • An internal battery backup, remove it
    • DSL, unplug the phone cord from your modem or gateway
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Put the internal battery back in if you have one.
  4. Plug the power cord back in. If you have DSL service, reconnect the phone cord.
  5. Wait for the gateway or modem to restart and your Broadband light to turn solid green. This can take up to 10 minutes.

Along with that, we recommend that you view our article that covers high ping and latency.

Let us know if this helps! If not, we have a few more things we can try.
