Prreqcroab.icu continues to pop up as blocked from different devices on our network

Hi,

I looked this site up and it shows as a high risk/scam/low trust level site but no one is consciously going ther. Is there some hacking attempt going on?

AT&T Smart Manager blocks the outbound attempts thankfully but how can I ban this entirely? Or find out what’s causing this?

I noticed it in real time when I clicked a YouTube ad then shortly after taken to the site which appeared legitimate it … the Smart Manager popped up notifying protection. But I looked in the history of blocks and noticed the same site from various devices on our network.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

@caramelsun - are you using a VPN from AT&T?

If you are using a VPN from any other company you should not be getting any alerts of blocked URLs because AT&T should not have any way of seeing your internet traffic. If you are getting alerts while connected to your VPN that's concerning.

Hi @smarbin  - No, I use a separate VPN service. I have not noticed many issues with Smart Manager blocking when I use the VPN. I can't honestly say I've monitored the blocking actions as much until lately .... when the same website address kept showing up blocked by Smart Manager...and other devices on our network being blocked as attempts to go to that website (which we were not doing).

I hadn't been using the VPN 24/7, so I don't know for sure if it was only when the VPN was not on or if it was on when Smart Manager blocked it. I find it strange that the same website is somehow automatically blocked when none of us intentionally go to it. That was the concern, not if ATT could see my movement via the VPN.

Thanks for the article, I appreciate that. 😊

Thank you for that suggestion, @smarbin!

We'll be sure to submit that to our team. As of now, if you wish to block the notifications we can provide the steps to take using your phone settings. We will just need to know if you are using an iOs device or an android.

Please let us know so we can provide those steps for you!

Thanks @ATTHelp - for clarity I was suggesting being able to ignore notifications about a specific site vs. blocking all notifications. Is that what you mean you can help with?

I'm on Android

Hi, @smarbin.

At the moment, that isn't possible, but that is the feedback I did submit. As of now, the only way to "block" the notifications is to disable the notifications for the app itself, which we would understand why you wouldn't want to do that. If you prefer to do so, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll down until you see apps
  3. Find the Smart Home Manager app
  4. Toggle allow notifications into the off position

Don't hesitate to reach back out if you ever need our assistance again. Thank you for visiting the AT&T Communtyi Forums!

I was just doing a search on Google (not Chrome), and I clicked on a link to view the website/page, and the AT&T Smart Manager popped up that it blocked this website. After reading all of the submissions, they are all somehow tied to Google. YouTube, Google Calendar, Google Chrome, and now Google search browser. Hopefully someone figures this out soon. I’m just glad that it’s getting blocked!

@darrenkjackson That is interesting. I suspected something like that because I was on YouTube at the time I noticed it, after I clicked the ad link.

Yup, I'll join the club. The whole point that i googled the message in the first place and found this discussion group. I am also seeing

//dbhtrg.com/

//exch.prreqcroab.icu/

//funstersplace.net/19repo/addonsmd5.txt

The last site is running on a device on my network that i do not recognize. I blocked the device and this URL is being blocked about every 20 minutes like clockwork. Its a little unnerving to be honest.

Thanks for the discussion.

Hi, I get at least 5 notifications a day from this URL. I have a AT&T modem. (honestly, sometimes I can’t even use google because of the firewall).

looking up the URL will link you to multiple IP routes which ultimately  indicates that many websites, ads (on a webpage), etc is being provided by a person under the domain name MarkMonitor.

it is a popular and inexpensive domain it can be easily purchased to collect analytics from internet users from clicking on urls/links like “yahoo news” or an image redirect.
(Not tracking your person info, just seeing if their marketing is working).

If you have “block pop up blockers” turned on or are on a webpage where something like a real-estate agency is promoting an advertisement, the AT&T security system will likely be triggered.

suspicious behavior, like when a domain is constantly popping up, the security system considers it “spam”!! Especially when it’s not a ‘.com’, ‘.org’,  ‘.io”

That’s just my theory, could this is definitely a bug, not malware.

Hello, I have the Z Fold 4 and AT&T plus the mobile version of VPN. I still get this everyday like 3 or 4 times a day and I'm not even on my phone when I get this message. I would like to know which app this is associated with so I can remove it. I don't want to just hide the warnings.
