NVG599 Not Displaying MY 5Ghz SSID NetWork On List of Available Networks

Had this NVG599 for about a month It replaced an older ATT router.. I was using the default setup where both the 2.4 and the 5.0 Ghz were the same, so it was automatically providing 5.0Ghz to my FireStick and 2 other 5Ghz devices. At one point. I changed the default setup by changing one of the SSID names since I wanted more control over which device would get 5Ghz. At some point I changed it back to the default again. However, for some reason I can no longer get the 5Ghz to display as an available network on the list. It shows my new Network Name SSID for 5Ghz on the WiFi Device page of the router, but I can not see it as a choice on my WiFi available networks...ie. it only shows my SSID name for the 2.4 network name.

Here is what I have done. The "Hide Network Name" setting is set to OFF. I have done many router factory resets, unplugged and plugged back everything, and checked all of the settings many many times over the past few days. I have tried making it work again both using the default setting (with both SSIDs being the same) and changing the name and password for the 5Ghz. No luck.  Any suggestions appreciated

I’d factory reset the RG.

Afterwards, set the 5GHz radio to channel 149. Your Amazon devices will thank you for that.

Thanks for suggestion but as I mentioned, I have already done several factory resets of the router. Also, I have read in more than one place that "amazon firestick 3rd generation does NOT like anything above Channel 48 (a/n/ac @5Ghz).
e.g. You can only use the lowest bands (Ch's 36 - 48), if you want it to work." I also had already  randomly set many different channel numbers including 149, but no luck

My router is in the same room as my other 5Ghz devices. As I said, it is not that I am getting a weak signal, but that my SSID name does not even show up in any wifi available networks on any of my devices. It worked for about the first week, but not since then. I guess I will have to call AT&T for assistance.....I am thinking that the 4 week old router is broke. Thanks again

I should have mentioned that it is not only amazon devices but other devices as well that will not display a SSID name for my 5Ghz setting.

If you can't connect your AFTV to the RG's 5GHz radio via wireless on channel 149 after a factory reset, the device is defective.  There are 2 ways to factory reset, one is to hold the red reset button in back for over 10 seconds, and second is via the management console (192.168.1.254) under diagnostics --> resets.  The button is called reset device.

The AFTV is better than most because it actually tells you which radio frequency is being used along with channel number.

Also, while you may have had the 599 for only 4 weeks, understand the device dates back to at least 2015.  ATT will recycle/refurbish the devices.  The only way to get something (possibly) truly new is to get a BGW210-700.

While I've seen defective RGs, haven't ever seen one do what's described, but hey, why not, right?
