No Internet on Linksys RE6500 Extender

I have successfully connected my Linksys RE6500 to my AT&T Pace router/modem.  My iPad sees the Extender and connects to it.  Unfortunately, I cannot connect to the internet when I use the extender.  If I directly connect to the Pace, there is no problem with surfing.  FYI, I had to use a fixed ip for the extender.  I assigned 192.168.1.253.  Any ideas how to make this extender work?

Hi @Retired_Guy_13,

 

It may be one of the other settings that is causing problems. What is the default gateway and subnet mask you are using? They should be 192.168.1.254 and 255.255.255.0 assuming no changes have been made on the gateway. Also, check the Ethernet cable by connecting a laptop in, instead of the extender to make sure it is working properly.

Gateway and Subnet are fine.

 

I finally got it to work by connecting the Extender into an Powerline-extended Ethernet connection.

 

Not what I had in mind when I  bought the Extender, but nothing else would get a connection to the Internet.
