New Passphrase (?) for DirecTV Connection
Hello, I just switched over to U-verse for Internet in February. Turns out that I need to restablish the network services associated with my DirecTV service since I switched to a new wireless router. When I try to do this, DirecTV keeps asking for a "passphrase." I have tried to enter my 10-digit Wi-Fi password (on the sticker on the router) on multiple occasions, and it is not being accepted. Other than the password for my ATT account (which I did try, as well), I never set up any other password.
I did navigate to 192.168.1.254 from my browser and was able to log in and access my gateway info. Interestingly enough, when I go to the password section and enter the 10-digit code, it is not accepted there, either. However, I am obviously using this code and it works since we have multiple devices connected to it. It looks like I can possibly reset this but wanted to check before I do something dramatic like this.
I'd greatly appreciate any advice here!

Could the code have been changed from the default code listed on the sticker on the router?

Thanks for writing, Texas. I don't see how this could have happened, as we have several devices (including the laptop from which I am writing this) aleady connected using the 10-digit Wi-Fi password. If that had changed, then these things would not be able to connect.
Is there some other password that wasn't set up at the time of installation or that I don't know about?

It makes me nervous when I cannot verify individual things. That is, I do not want to assume that I have the password. Can you verify it by signing on with another device?
When you are in the RG gui & it asks for a password to allow you to make changes it is a different password. There are three numbers on the lable - one is the wi-fi password, one is the gui password & I forget if the third is the network ID.
Are you sure you are trying to connect to your network & not someone elses?
Sometimes, in cases like this one device has password restrictions that the other does not. YOu need to construct the password to narrowest edit. BUt, you are not getting an error that would guide you on this.
How about a wired connection?

HI Aviewer, thanks for getting back to me. Again, this is just to get the services on my DirecTV account working (from my TV, which can connect to the Internet, but cannot at the moment due to this issue). I've been using my gateway for two months, with multiple devices. Everything else is fine.
I didn't notice another serial key on the device until you mentioned this. I noticed one very hard to read set of numbers off to the side on the device. I used this device and apparently that is the password for the GUI! So thanks for that!
However, DirecTV still won't accept it as the Passphrase. So what exactly are they looking for??

I'd suggest you call DirecTV to ask what they are asking you about. Only way you'll find out. Good luck 😉

So now you can change the u-verse gui. Try the directtv hokupup without security. THen change the password so you are sure what it is . Maybe change it to what you think it is.
