Internet for laptops only

I currently have a desktop computer.  I have U-verse internet with a 2WIRE347 gateway that allows me to use a laptop in another room, so I do have wireless capability for an existing laptop.  I would like to eliminate the desktop and have laptops only.  Is it possible to have this service without a desktop computer?  Can I just unplug the ethernet cable from the desktop computer and remove it?  Or will I need other equipment if I want to run only wireless?

This post refers to my home service only - I'm not interested in Wi-Fi "hot spots" elsewhere.

Thank you.

Yes, you can use any comination of wired, wireless or both together.

The only limit would be if you forget the wireless security code & cannot access wireless, you would have to reconnect wired. Just plug it in.

Just unhook the desktop. You don't need it if you're just using wireless.
