How to remove device from router

My ATT Internet access is provided through a Pace 5268ac. I have used its LAN IP Address Allocation facility to provide static IP addresses and names for the devices. This seems to work well.

I'm now at the point where I'm replacing old devices and want to remove the old devices (names and MAC addresses) from the IP address list.

I've tried to remove the entries for the old devices using the web interface to the 5268ac and also through the Smart Home Manager with no luck.

How can I remove the IP Address Allocation entry?

Thanks

Mike

Hi, @mikebk824.

We are here to help.

We suggest that you restart your gateway first, because it might not be reading your network properly.

After you restart your gateway, we suggest that you access our web version of Smart Home Manager. The web version is more accurate and should show better results.

Let us know if this works, if it doesn't we have some other options for you.

I have restarted the router and tried the web Smart Home Manager but that hasn't helped.

Let me elaborate on what I'm doing.

I'm using IP Address allocation so that each device always uses the same IP address and name to facilitate troubleshooting. When I do this, the router must make an entry that has the device's MAC address, the desired IP Address and name. When I connect the device to the LAN, it sends a DHCP request to obtain its assigned IP address. The router finds the entry with the MAC address and returns the IP address.

When I retire a device, I want to remove the entry with the MAC address but haven't been able to find a way to remove the entry. I've been looking for buttons labelled something like Remove, Delete or Forget. I do see a "Block" button but haven't been able to find a description of what it does.

I have noticed postings from other users looking for similar functionality. These are for other routers or don't have resolutions noted.

Can you help with how to remove/delete/forget a device from the router? I'd think that if a router frequently sees new devices you would want to be able to purge old/unused entries. How is that done? Where would I find a description of what Block does?

Thanks

Mike

Hi @mikebk824,

We are delighted to help.

There are not forget or remove option. However, you might resetting your router back to its default settings.

Restart Gateway

  1. Unplug the power connection behind the gateway for ~15 seconds.
  2. Plug back in and wait for the broadband light to go green, this can take 2-5 minutes.

Factory Reset Gateway

WARNING: This will return all gateway settings to a default state. Any custom Wi-Fi passwords, Wi-Fi names, SSID, Static IP, and Port Forwarding rules will be lost. Settings can be restored, scroll to accepted solutions for steps to restore settings.

  • Locate the small red button & pinhole on the lower rear of the gateway
  • Depress for ~15 seconds.

Thanks for your efforts but I still can't remove the old entry.

What I am doing is to rename the device so it is less confusing
