SkippyATL: do we need to use two different channels for 2.4 and 5GHz or can they be the same channel? I bought a Galaway wifi extender that works great for about 8 hours and then it seems to disconnect from the interent (happens about every day). The wifi networks show up but if you connect you won't have an internet connection. After I restart the router (via unplugging) the Galaway wifi networks start working again (i.e. internet works). The Galaway instructions say to change the channel of the router to channel 11 but I'm not sure if that means for both 2.4 and 5GHz. Any ideas?

Hello @corinneb

Not knowing the specifics of the Wi-Fi extnder, does it support 5 GHz?That would be something to check into. It's confirmed that some extenders depending on model, may only support 2.4. Check that prior to any specific RG configurations.

Since the problem appears to be relating to the extender, access the extender Interface and confirm the latest firmware. Usually if new firmware is available, there would be an alert to update. If there is a firmware update to take place, after updating, reset the extender and wait for a boot up. It's possible that you may need to reconfigure.

If the extender is compatible for both frequencies, a dual band RG is capable of receiving and transmitting both 2.4 and 5 GHz at the same time, therefore any recommended channel setting from Galaway would be recommend.

While we don't technically support 3rd party devices, we're always glad to assist you with any AT&T hardware related questions issues. You're in a good spot to get support from other users as well. Let us know if we can be of further support.
