Gateway for iHome compatibility

I'm trying to connect an iHome to my wireless. I've discovered that the iHome is 802.11 g/n compatible and my Uverse router, a Pace 3801 HGV can only be set to b, g or b/g. The iHome tech support suggested a firmware update for the gateway. It doesn't appear to be an option. I am able to get the ihome to connect to an unsecure netgear wifi, so don't think it has anything to do with the ihome.

I'm thinking my two options are return the iHome speaker or buy/upgrade my gateway. Are there other options? Thank you for any help.

A end device can only operate in one of those 802.11 "modes" at once.  The iHome is 802.11g compatible and so is the RG (residential gateway), so they should be able to connect using 802.11g.

There are no customer-accessable firmware updates for the RG; AT&T updates it when they have something to roll out.

You do need to be sure that you're setting up the same wireless authentication type on the iHome as is set in your RG.
