Fixed wireless NAT type issues
Here goes;
My NAt type is strict, the pace 5268ac does not allow me to access pinholes and dmz settings. UNLESS, i factory reset it and unplug the internet in ethernet cable. Upon doing the factory reset with data cable unplugged i can access all the options the pace 5268ac should have. I did this and forwarded the ports i needed to and saved it hoping it would remain once i connected to the net. At first it didnt appear to have retained the port forwarding settings, i found mo mention of it in firewall log and the pinholes and dmz settings were no longer accessible. After a few minutes of looking around i found the NAT type in the diagnostics tab and it clearly showed my pinholes with the porta i input as being active, yet my NAT type never changed in my game. After 40 minutes or so the NAT diagnostics no longer showed the pinholes. Now, at&t states it is impossible to open the NAT type, yet i once contacted tech support via chat and the tech was able to open the nat type for me and i had a green (open) nat type for an hour. I was then called by fixed wireless support and informed that it was impossible to do what the non fixed wireless tech had done, literally an hour earlier. As you can imagine, after the uverse tech support guy was able to open my nat type for me all the while fixed wireless tech support guy is telling me it's impossible I am left confused and quite honestly #%##*¥ off. In short, why does AT&T feel I am not entitled to port forwarding access on my fixed wireless internet connection? It is obviously being blocked on the AT&T side so what gives?

It has to do with the technology they are using. As far as I know, and I have fixed wireless also, there is no way to have an open nat unless they change the way they are providing the fixed wireless service to us. I have read of ways to do it using a router, vpn and computer but it seemed pretty complicated so I have not bothered. I do a lot of gaming and so far I have not had any issues so I guess I will live with it since it is so much better than the 1.5mb dsl I had.

Yeah, I just recently ran into this problem and am PO'd. It has worked fine for the past few months and now all of a sudden it doesn't. I'm afraid this is going to be a deal breaker for me. I may have to go back to EXEDE satellite service........

How did you get it to change to NAT type 2?
On my PS4, it wont even let me talk to other friends via microphone because of type 3. If you were able to get it to change, that could really helpful!

Here we go again. My Nat just changed back to 2 again right after I made a complaint on the forum. This is the 3rd time it's changed immediately after a complaint. I'm not sure why it happens that way. It usually on stays on 2 for a few weeks then goes back to 3. Guess I'll have to see how long it stays on 2 this time. Whoever or whatever is changing it, Thanks....

I get a mixed bag of beans too. I can play rainbow 6 siege with nat 2 one week with 32ms. Then nat 3 with 60ms, nat 2 with lag spikes, it all depends on what IP I land on when I reset the router.
