My question is concerning email accounts. We recently switched from Time Warner(tv, internet, phone) to At&T(phone& internet) & direct tv. We were told at the ATT store that we would be able to keep our current email accounts. How is that possible when we are switching?

It is stated in att's terms of service that when you cancel their service you get to keep your att email address.  But I don't know if that applies to time warner accounts.  Yes I know att bought time warner but I don't know if those email accounts join the category of the current batch of att legacy accounts that resulted form all the bell's gobbling up one another over the years where att came out on "top" (sort of).  If time warner has their own email service, and that's part of the acquisition, then it may be possible you should see no changes on your end for email but I don't know that for sure.  All I am doing is speculating.  You may not know until more of the dust has settled.

@_xyzzy_ ATT did not buy Time Warner’s internet/cable business.
