Can I set up NVG 589 as Repeater/Extender/Access Point?

I just upgraded my service to Internet 100 from 45 and received a new BGW210 router.  I would like to extend my network wifi coverage to my garage, and want to set up the NVG 589 as a repeater/extender/2nd access point.  Can this be done?

Would setting up the NVG 589 as a bridge accomplish this? https://forums.att.com/t5/AT-T-Internet-Features/How-to-put-the-Motorola-NVG589-in-bridge-mode-or-as-close-as-you/m-p/3552057

I found that the easiest thing was to set up the NVG589 as a cascaded router behind the BGW210.

I just:

1. reset the NVG (it was my gateway until my recent upgrade) to factory defaults

2. in NVG settings, set the Device ipv4 address to 192.168.1.1 and turned DHCP off

3. connected NVG to the BGW with an ethernet cable

Now, when I connect a device to the NVG via wifi, it's connected to the network.  I moved the NVG to a spot that's closer to my garage.  The signal is weak, but I can now wifi connect from the garage (when before, wifi connections would fail).  Mission accomplished!
