Blinking Red Broadband Light and No Service. What is wrong?

I connected the line into the telephone jack and I have everything plugged in, but the broadband light is blinking red. Service was supposed to be turned on today at 8:00 pm and I still get no internet connection. I'm also in a apartment. What is the problem?

My broadband is flashing green and then red and back to green, and so-on.

I have had AT&T internet for the last 5 years with only a modem running the system. There were no problems with service during this time. Several months ago I switched over from Dish to AT&T TV services. Since then the broadband service is a complete joke for a paying customer.  The differences that I noticed in the equipment was huge, new hubs, a separate gateway, and a lot of coax wire. I have made at least 6 calls for help and I still have the same issues with wireless and wired services. The biggest problem with Tech help is they always want to restart the system. This works for a couple of hours but ends up failing. The wireless continues to show a strong signal but has a exclamation point next to it with no service. When my computer shows a network 3 the internet does not work  until it shows a network 5. I am still amazed at myself for continuing with this service for this long. What amazes me more is that AT&T wants the customer to do the service work.

So @Brian751994, do you have a red blinking Broadband light?  That seems to be the main subject of this thread.
