45Mbps Bonded Pair NVG599 test results.

Recently I upgraded my service to the AT&T U-verse Internet Power (45 Mbps upload 6 Mbps download) plan which required a boned pair install and a new NVG599 Dual Band AT&T Modem/Router.  I receive the speeds that I should. I am located in zip 75116 Duncanville Tx (suburb of Dallas Tx).  I conducted this test using my laptop 2.4ghz wifi connection to the NVG599. Upload 43.14 Mbps and Download 5.71Mbps.

AT&T Arris NVG599 Dual Band Modem/Router.

Firmware Version 9.1.4h0d80

Hardware Version 0100130046

@ttran4200, Maybe you can post your line status info from your router?  That may give us a little insite on how the router is dealing with the bonded pair.

Your numbers look pretty good..  I would keep an eye on the Unavailable Seconds USAL Line 1 & the Unavailable Seconds USAL Line 2 numbers...  I think when you are having your drop outs, those numbers will account for the drop out..   If so, you then will have technical "proof" that could help the tech's diagnose the problem. Pull the report again and see if the numbers have changed, and by how much.

You mentioned that you have had the modem replaced, and the problem is still happening.

And you mentionied that you have had several tech come out.

Do you know what they did?

Here are some of the things that they have or have not done yet.

1.Verify what medium you have in your house that carries the signal from the Dmark to your modem. I think you have CAT 5 cable for bonded pair?

2. Cat 5 cable has 4 twisted pair, Bonded install uses 2 pair of the twisted pair, so there is still 2 pair in the cat5 not being used.  Have they switched pairs to see if problem continues?

3. Check to make sure the cable is not spliced or cut at the Nid.

4. Perhaps they will take your modem out side to your Nid and plug it in directly at the Nid completly bypassing your in house wiring, then run line tests.

5. Figure out what type of medium your have between the Nid and the Node?

6. They need to test the cable between the Nid and Node.

7. Find where your lines are teminated in the node.

8. In the node perhaps switch the card your lines are using.

9. As a last resort they may have to replace the lines between the Nid and Node.

OMG...all your questions are legit and none of my att uverse tech not even come close to these questions.

Here are some update as well as answer to your questions....

* per your instruction...i turned OFF ipv6 and as the result...NO intermittent today (at least from my college daughter visit us and do her online test and so far not kick her OFF line today). I was wondering if this is the PERMANENT SOLUTION (so faf so good)

1) YES. you are right

2) YES. i advised one of our tech on last week and we switched to the UN-USE pair.

3) YES. Both the tech and I checked very carefully and ALL GOOD.

4) NOT YET.  But this idea seems legit and i will have to perform this test when tech is here tomorrow p.m.

5) to 😎 NOT YET.  This is a brilliant idea.  I will relay these to our assign tech tp perform.

9) The Tech last week did mention to replace the RJ45 in the attic.  But he NEVER came back.

For Number 9..  Thats like the last resort...

The Node is the big box in your neighborhood somewhere, that ATT runs the fiber to.  The Node houses the backup batteries and a lot of cards that breakdown the fiber signal to all the diffrent cables that run into the Nid that is on your home.  For residential there are usually 2 pair of copper wires that run from the Node to the Nid either underground or on the poles.  Remind you, depending on how old your home is, these 2 pair of copper wires could be just as old..

One thing I forgot to ask you is how is your Modem being powered?  Are you plugging it directly into a surge protector or did AT&T provide you with a external battery that the modem plugs into?

If you don't have a battery, maybe ask your tech to provide you with one and try that..

If you have a battery, maybe have them swap it out for another one, as well as leave you the correct cable that will allow you to power the modem with out the battery.

Thank you very, very much !!!

i think all your suggestions seem to be valid. i scheduled att uverse tech today 6/2/2015 in the pm. I requested a sr tech and hope someone with a proper knowledge will able to troubleshoot and figure out and i will show your suggested items.

Let me try this last solution you provide before i am calling quit to my long hard bad experience with att uverse.

thanks again!

Ok, Just to set your proper expectations...  In the event that they determine you need #9 the outdoor Node to Nid cable replaced, they may have to schedule a diffrent department to come out there to perform that work.
