why am unable to connect to wifi with computers with windows 7
My mothers HP desktop with windows 7 recently lost ATT wifi after the router shut down. Rebooted the router and now the computer will not connect. Other devices such as phones and laptops with more recent windows systems are able to connect. I took my Toshiba laptop with windows 7 over to try it and it also could not locate the wifi from my moms router but did find the neighbors ATT router. Possibly need a new router?

What gateway (router) does your mom have?

A computer old enough to be running Windows 7 probably doesn't have onboard support for newer 802.11__ Wi-Fi standards and the latest Gateway especially has trouble with that.
I will note that you will have issues using the Internet on a Windows 7 due to lack of support for some encryption mechanisms and may be at risk for some vulnerabilities that Microsoft will not patch as support has completely ended for Windows 7.

Speaking as a mom, I have a Mother's Day gift idea.

The modem/router is a newest model. The computer is outdated.
