What make and model of WIFI extender will work best with U-verse 2Wire 3800HGV-B router

I very poor wifi connectability and speed in the basement and other rooms of my house. My house if pretty small so I'm a little surprised by this.

I want to add a wifi extender to hopefully solve this problem. I've seen some posts that suggest different extenders to use with a 2Wire 3801, but I need to make sure they will work with my 2Wire 3800HGV-B router. Can someone please suggest a brand/model?
