WEP button not working to connect my wireless printer

After a power outage I haven't been able to reconnect my HP wireless printer to my network.  I have an Arris NVG589 router and I held the WEP button for 3 seconds as directed and nothing happened.  I tried manually entering my WEP passphrase (I believe that is the WIFI password), but that didn't work either.  Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

We can help with that printer issue, @tmather1.

We’ve written a guide to connecting your printer to your router. (The images in that guide are for a BGW210, but everything should be applicable for a NVG589.) The important thing to remember is to press the WPS button on the front of the router first, and then move on to the printer. If that doesn't get them connected, check your printer's user manual: there may be a way to connect it using the Wi-Fi name and password.

If you’re still unable to get the printer connected after that, we may have to refer you to HP for specific support.

Let us know how it goes @tmather1!

I'm not entirely sure how, but I got the printer to connect to the network.  I don't think the WEP key worked to connect, but I tried entering my password again and it miraculously connected.
