Swapped Uverse Gateway

I recently received a new gateway from AT&T after my previous one stopped working. When I plugged in the new gateway it worked, but all the data has somehow transfered over from my old gateway. How can I have it so it's a completely wiped, fresh RG? With a new name, IP address and everything. Should I do a factory reset?

Factory reset if you want. You should consider leaving it as is. The data copied over is just your previous network name and password and settings. If you had a custom network name and settings, you would have to change it in the new gateway. Att does this as a convenience to customers. It probably cuts down on calls saying a new gateway won’t connect to WiFi devices.

What about the IP & MAC address? Would that be refreshed if I reset the new gateway? I would rather have a totally cleared RG.
