Smart TV keeps dropping internet connection

All of a sudden, my TV says I am not connected to the internet. I have to change the DNS settings almost every time I turn on the TV. Once I do, things work again until the next time I turn on the TV. Nothing in my services or set up has changed. WiFi on all other devices works just fine. I have a Samsung TV and it is only 2 years old and has had no issues.

Hi @SamsungJess, we are happy to help.

If you have just started having trouble or service has been acting up for some time, check out some troubleshooting steps.

A reset can be the easiest fixes for service loss and intermittent service drops, slow speeds, and the dreaded red x.

  • Modem (Residential Gateway) On the rear of the modem is a red button. Press and hold that for 10 seconds.
  • Receiver – Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.

How far apart is the  router and the Samsung TV from each other?

  • Distance could play a part with your concerns.
  • The AT&T Smart Wi-Fi Extender helps get a wireless signal to more areas of your home, giving you a better Wi-Fi experience to do what you want, where you want.

Manage your network from your phone using the Smart Home Manager:

  • AT&T Smart Home Manager is a free tool that simplifies and personalizes your home Wi-Fi experience.
  • As homes become more and more connected, this tool provides an easy way to personalize and manage all your home network info from your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Let us know the result of your troubleshooting steps.

If you have any additional concerns, please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you for contacting us on AT&T Community Forums!

Move to this post to the internet forum. Unless you are using a mobile hotspot oh, this is not a wireless question or problem.

AT&T did not make your television set, it did not sell your television set. Your TV set is a Samsung product and you should be addressing any concerns with the manufacturer.

(BTW you might hardwire the TV)
