Seeking access to port 8883

I have an Alexa Echo Dot. I’m trying to use it to allow voice commands on my Vizio smart tv. Alexa app info said to contact WiFi provider for instructions on how to access “port 8883” and problem will be solved.

Okay, I see this statement

VIZIO's voice control requires internet router access to port 8883

on https://support.vizio.com/s/article/Alexa-SmartCast-Display?language=en_US

I'm going to make the leap of faith that this is (a) accurate and (b) describing a port that must be opened for inbound access.  If so, and assuming you have a BGWxx0 Gateway, then:

[P.S. It is recommended that you do a factory reset of a Gateway before trying to program Port Forwarding.  WARNING: This will reset any settings you may have made in the Gateway, including SSIDs, passphrases, etc.  This is done by holding the button on the back of the gateway for 10 seconds ]

1) Go to http://192.168.1.254/

2) Click on Firewall

3) Click on NAT/Gaming

4) Supply the System password from the sticker on the side of the Gateway

5) Click Custom Services

6) Enter the following:

Service Name: Vizio Voice control

Global Port Range:  8883 - 8883

Base Host Port: 8883

Protocol: TCP/UDP

7) Click Add

8) Click Return to NAT/Gaming

9) Select Vizio Voice control for Service Name

10) Select your TV's name/MAC address for Needed by Device

11) Click Add
