Roku Streaming Stick won't connect to Uverse

My network will not detect my Roku streaming stick (model 3500) so that I can connect it to my Wi-Fi. I've read that often times trouble connecting devices via Wi-Fi is due is internal DNS settings & that these settings need to be changed to a public DNS. However, it appears Uverse DNS settings can not be changed. Is there any way to solve this problem & get my network to connect to my Roku?

The DNS is changed in the Roku not the AT&T provided router/gateway.

Does the Roku setup see your network? Are you using the correct password (label on router/gateway)?

I can't even get past the remote pairing stage because my network won't detect my Roku or vice versa, idk. I know the Roku searches for networks, however, for some reason it won't detect mine.
