RG Router Settings...can see device via RG wireless but not through ethernet
I've had several software upgrades in the last couple of weeks and one new piece of hardware added to my network but I think the problem is in some setting on the the RG-3800.
The crux of the problem is Apple Airplay works fine if I connect using my RG-3800 wireless network but if I turn off the wireless and use cat 6 I can't get to the Apple Airplay.
Here is my set-up
Computer iMac running OS Lion and Airplay via iTunes 10.4 (cat6 connected fails but unplugging cat6 and using 2WireXYZ network is ok)
Computer Two=Macbook running OS Snow Lepoard and Airplay via iTunes 10.3 (cat6 connected fails but unplugging cat6 and using 2WireXYZ network is ok)
The 4 LAN ports on the RG have the following connections
#1: Uverse DVR
#2: ATT Microcell
#3: Netgear GS-116e Pro-Safe plus switch
#4: Apple Time Machine
both computers when connecting via cat6 go through the Netgear GS-116e
the Airplay device is an "Apple airport express with Airtunes" connected via cat6 to the Apple Time Machine
The cat6 connection to the airtunes used to work but I haven't used it in several months so I'm not sure if it was an inadvertant RG tweaks on my part, RG firmware update, or the new Netgear GS-116e switch that introduced the connection problem (I had a GS-108 but it was retired because I ran out of ports).
Another confusing piece of info for me is the cat6 connected iMac backs up to the Apple Time Machine and prints to the laserject connected to the Apple TIme Machine so why can't it see the Apple airport express.

A little more information...
As an experiment I unplugged the iMac's cat 6 from the Netgear switch and plugged the cat 6 of the iMac directly into the RG and the Airplay functionality worked just like it did when the iMac connected to the RG wirelessly.
So I'm guessing it is some setting on the netgear switch that needs to be changed. I'm still somewhat perplexed because as mentioned in the earlier post I'm able to see the airport express and configure the airport express while the iMac's cat 6 is plugged into the switch but can't actually use the airplay feature while the iMac is plugged into the netgear switch.

1. Bad Ethernet cable between the NetGear GS-116 and the RG.
2. NetGear GS-116 switch is bad.
There are no configuration options on the NetGear switch, so this has to be a hardware problem.

It's awesome that a firmware update fixed the issue, but I never suggested or thought of that because in your last post you told us you had a GS116 switch, which is unmanaged and does not have firmware. You actually have a GS116E switch which is web-managed and definitely could benefit from a firmware upgrade. (You did say GS116E in your original post, but I didn't read that one).
