Remove Extra Receiver and the superfluous AP
This is a very... different question.
For starters, I have a wired DVR unit in my closet because my apartment is wired for comcaevil service preferentially. I only use it for the DVR service. I however, have to pay $8 a month for an extra receiver and $7 a month for an extra Access Point. This is 100% REDICULOUS! I was told that I would not get charged for the extra receiver either... but that's another matter.
So, I bought a wifi extender which translates the wifi signal to ethernet. It's a gigabit ethernet out, for whatever that matters. It is the Cisco R2500 (b/g/n with 300 mbps speed), I have the NVG589 model modem. It is supposed to be a 300 modem, so I *should* have extra speed from the wifi extension, no bottleneck there.
I tried it, it starts playing Uverse TV, then 10-15 seconds it stops. I am guessing there is a proprietary "is this ATT uverse stuff" check that it is failing.
Is there a way to do get rid of the extra DVR box and extra AP? I would have to run about 50 feet of ethernet, so I'd LOVE to get this done wirelessly.

U-verse IPTV primarily uses Multicast with the IGMP v3 protocol to manage subscriptions to the multicast streams. Unless your network hardware supports that flawlessly, you're going to have a mess, and most consumer routers do not. There are a few consumer routers now that claim to handle IPTV and IGMP v3, but I've not tried one myself, do not know if "handle" means an attempt to handle them wirelessly and I have no knowledge of anyone who has used them successfully with even a wired STB.
Another possible idea would be to connect your RG and DVR via a pair of 200 Mbps or higher powerline Ethernet adapters.

This is not the regular CS/TS people, but the social media Community Specialists that know the people to contact to get things done. I personally know as they've helped me on a DVR swap.

Yup, only one TV. I am thinking of getting two routers and bridge and try that. The E2500 wifi extender doesn't work.

I downloaded ddrt and flashed it onto one of my spare routers, it is on IGMP v1, but it seems to let the DVR through. I need to get a v3 router and I will try that. I'm going to add that to my project list in the next year or so. Thanks again Jeff!
