Random Wifi Loss Gateway is Old

I randomly lose wifi on random devices. Sometimes all devices loose connection, sometimes some can connect but not others. ATT self help recommends making sure my equipment is the most current. The only thing older is the gateway. I am 99% sure the gateway is the issue, but can find no information on updating to a newer gateway. You'd think paying a monthly fee for ATT equipment they'd at least allow updates as the device ages. I'm shocked this has been so hard to figure out. Calling their customer service is torture, I am always bounced around and it literally takes at least an hour of my time. How can I get a newer gateway?

Newer gateway request…. Call 800-288-2020

may help if you unplug the gateway (dead, not detected) before calling.

Which gateway do you have? Which speed tier?

Gateways that may be in service but no longer issued includes…

3600, 3800, 3801, 3812 (iNid) with i38hg, 510, 5031, 5186

gateways still being issued, to my knowledge, 599 and 5268 (released to field 4th quarter 2015)

newest xDSL gateway (green port on gateway used) BGW 210 (released to field 4th quarter 2017)

exclusive fiber only gateway BGW 320 (released to field 4th quarter 2020)

@JuliaK55

You never said which gateway you have, but if Att agrees to update you, the best you’ll get is a 2017 vintage design.  BGW210.  Unlikely it will truly fix your WiFi issues.
Better off getting your own system.  Once done, you’ll forget about the problems.

Yes it is, I agree.  By comparison I can tell you Xfinity equivalent gateway doesn’t suffer from this problem.  But if you prefer to do business with Att rather than a competitor, this WiFi situation is something we all have to deal with.

I do have the BGW210. Kinda sad that I'm paying monthly for 5 year old equipment. I'll look into purchasing something. Thank you both for your help!
