Pace 5268ac 2.4ghz issues, signal last for 2 seconds then drops out, have had 4 modems replaced
I am having an issue that I have tried to report to the ATT tech support team but I am not able to get any help. (I have an NVG599 being shipped but I wanted to report this issue just because the Pace has better specs)
This is my problem. When I enable the 2.4ghz wifi on the modem, I get a brief blip on the wifi scanner I am using then it disappears. The 5ghz channel works flawlessly but the 2.4ghz just doesnt work. I have formatted the device, I have tried to use auto channel, 20mhz, 40mhz, disable/enable WPS. I have had the modem replaced about 4 times now and it has happened on every one of them.
When I first set the modem up, I put i on 40mhz channel 6... which should be the cleanest channel for the speed. But it just does not work.

I just checked my proximity and all the 2.4ghz are using 20mhz but the 5ghz is using 40 and 80mhz.
My questions are:

No, the 20mhz does not work on any channel or any setting. I was eventually able to get it going with a "normal" signal but was getting massive amounts of packet loss, then the signal died again. It works for a few seconds after I power cycled the modem but it died again. I have a wifi scanner on my cell phone and when this happens, you can still see 5ghz but the 2.4 is missing completely. Same with the wifi scanner on my laptop, the 2.4ghz from the 2-wire (5268ac) is missing or either looks like a heart beat jumping up every few seconds.

Just installed the NVG599 and I have NO issues. Running 2.4ghz at 40mhz using channel 6 and I am getting perfect connection. There has to be an issue with that 5268ac modem. I would rather use the 5268ac due to better wifi but I might have to just keep this NVG599 modem for now until they fix the issue.

Would love if the ATT techs would get involved with this issue.

I have been having the exact same problem. My 5ghz works flawlessly, but the 2.4ghz drops continuously. I've had 2 modems switched out within weeks of each other and still the issue continues. The ATT Tech came out and said he found some interference from my neighbors, so we changed the channel and it seemed to work better. Now, it's back to dropping out (even though I've gone in manually and changed the channel to a less crowded one multiple times) and now my printers are printing agonizingly s-l-o-w, like several minutes between pages and if I need to print in color, I might as well leave it on all night if I'm printing more than 5 pages. This is beyond ridiculous and defies all logic. Searching through the internet shows that this is a HUGE problem that has been happening for a few years.
