OLD GATEWAY= Dropping Internet Daily

Our ATT WiFi drops DAILY. I think it's due to an old Gateway. Does ATT ever replace those? We have had this account for YEARS!

Internet drops at least once per day, often MULTIPLE DROPS during day. ATT is terrible.

I run the “diagnostics “ every time…. Internet has been out for almost two hours now!!

Sometimes the environment can cause drops. 

Is the modem plugged into a surge protector or power strip? If so, plug it directly into a wall outlet. This can resolve some issues. 

Also, drops can be caused by devices around the modem like electronics. The more electronics, the more interference they produce which means the possibility of drops. Moving devices a few feet away from the modem can make the difference.

Last, what model modem do you have? As you mentioned, it is old can could be the culprit.

Thanks for the comment, they finally ran a diagnostic that showed the age of the router was the problem and it has been replaced. no connectivity problems at all now. I knew when I upgraded to two-wires that it would be a problem and the tech "assured" me that it wouldn't be an issue. ha. I feel vindicated. You can't DOUBLE the activity on the line and use the same router/modem that you've had for 15 years...... seriously.
