NVG589 RG

Hello,

I have a Arris NVG589.  I've noticed that most of the discussion on this site are about Motorola NVG589.  My question, can I use the solved problem with the Motorola?  Are there connection and/or firmware different?

Thanks,

Dennis

Hi @zeetoe25  ! 🙂

The Arris and Motorola NVG589 are the same gateway. Arris recently bought the ISP equipment portion of Motorola. The Arris versions are just rebranded gateways to show the company's new logo.

Everything for the Motorola branded version can be applied to the Arris version when it comes to support topics.

Hi Darknessrise,

Thanks for the info!  Very much appreciated.  So, I can use the Motorola manual for information?

I reciently had a Arris nvg589 installed which replaced my old ATT router.  Now one of the Public video programs no longer works.  I had used the program with the old ATT router for about two years.  I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work.  Pinholes, port number set, static IP setup, turned off firewall, etc. with no results.  I want my old router back.  Can this be done?  The change was done Friday of last week.

Hi jwillenbring,

I can't answer your question on getting your router back, but I can tell you what I did to solve the video problem I had.  I went into the configuration setup of the Arris NVG589 and turned off IPv6.  Then I restarted my computer, which in turn reset the network settings.  Went to the video I was having problems with and it worked just, and continues to work.  I read an article that says IPv6 if not configured correctly by the provider, can screw up a lot of stuff on your network.  Give it a try and see what happens.
