Need help configuring router to allow VOIP calls using SIP software

I tried using a dialer program that requires the router to be configured to use SIP.  How do I make this happen?

At this time, the dialer program just shuts down intermittently and/or has limited audio.

I have uVerse router 5268AC FXN.

Help or advice much appreciated!

Hello there @rosestrain!

This is an excellent question you have brought to our attention. I can understand your concern in regards to getting this setup for all your calling needs! I will be pleased to assist you further.

Your router has an option to select "Application Type", this is in regards to customizing port-forwarding settings. You can click Application Type to select what SIP type you wish to use with your dialer program. I would also suggest checking with your dialer program to ensure the most compatible SIP type is selected.

Let us know how it works out!

You might want to start a new topic in the proper forum.  SIP isn't going to work until you have service with a SIP provider.  I'll  move this to the Internet forum, but I think you need to provide more detail.
