Typically the "green cord" running from the Green port on the back of your Gateway to the wall isn't actually an "Ethernet" cord. It's typically a P6C4 (RJ14 or RJ11 connector) twisted pair cable. Either of these would do:

Anything that says Ethernet or is truly Cat 5e will have RJ45 plugs which will be too large for the jacks the cord needs to fit into.
