Move AT&T Fiber ONT

I am replacing my structured media cabinet (SMC) where my AT&T Fiber ONT is current located with a larger SMC.  I would like to fully disconnect the incoming fiber line and patch cable so I can remove the old SMC, install the new one, and reroute all the cabling within the new.  I will not be extending/shortening the fiber line, just moving things into a new cabinet.  Can this be done myself without having to have a technician come onsite?

Hello @odie817,

Lets discuss your fiber.

We normally do not recommend it unless you are familiar with fiber set ups. However most modems use an Ethernet cord and if that is all you are moving than you will not have an issue. So depending on the tools available and knowledge it may be no issue to move without a tech coming out.

We hope this helps @odie817, please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

You can try it.... calling for a tech dispatch is $99 to do as you desire disconnect / reconnect. Or if you break the fiber needing a new fiber end installed would be $99.

DIY, if successful $0.
