monthly fee for wifi extender?

Is there a monthly fee for a wifi extender for my ATT Uverse modem model 5268AC?

Or just the one time fee for purchasing online through ATT's website?

Or, can I buy any wifi extender w/mesh technology, and will it work w/this modem?
