I have no green light for broadband on modem and other green lights flicker a lot. Is this normal?

Try rebooting it (pull plug for about 15 secs.).
If that doesn't clear it call tech support to check the line from their end. If the check fails they will tell you what happens next (probably a replacement gateway).
