Mesh router for use with AT&T fiber router gateway

I need to connect my IP phone to a satellite unit of a mesh router using my AT&T fiber internet.  But, my router is on the first floor and my office on the 2nd floor.  I was told a mesh router is the answer?  Is the TP-Link X55 overkill for my needs?  I just need to plug my phone from the internet output into the router satellite via an ethernet cable, but it has to be an Internet input, or so I am told.  I have an Ooma VoiP business line.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Yeah, if you just need to connect that one device then a mesh system probably is overkill.  Since you didn't mention wifi signal issues in your office then maybe just a plain extender with an Ethernet port would do the job.

If you're a fan of TP-Link stuff maybe look at this one.  Get if from someplace with a good return policy so if it doesn't work out (wifi is so completely unpredictable) you can send it back and try something else.
